Me Learning Spanish Language

I don't understand why this world is crazy to learn French language. When I declared that I am going to learn Spanish language, people started questioning that why I want to learn Spanish? Why not French? And my answer to them was why French? It seems French language has created a strong reputation, so strong that schools like Delhi Public School, Maharaja Agarasen teaches thier students this language in primary standards itself.

Now my logic, is that Spanish is almost the second language of United States now as the maxicans and latin americans continue to migrate there. I also like Spanish songs. Whole Latin America and Spain speaks Spanish language. ITs so easy. I have already started to learn it. I am not saying that French language is bad. I too want to learn that language also. But, just because people around are crazy about something, thats why you should learn it, thats the bad idea.

What you say? DO you have any idea about this? and please if someone knows good spanish movies or novels, or something else which I should refer to when I am entering in the world of Spanish, do tell me.
